One Port Street

One Port Street is a flagship residential development that dominates the skyline in Manchester’s Northern Quarter district which is due to open in February 2026.

We were appointed to undertake the Painting and Decorating package by Renaker following the successful delivery of a number of previous projects.

Our scope on this landmark £195m development encompassed the internal decoration of the 32-storey tower and the connected podium, housing a total of 477 apartments, entrance lobby and co-working spaces, residents lounge, subterranean swimming pool, state-of-the-art gym and yoga studios.

Our highly professional project management worked collaboratively with the client and other trades to ensure the project ran smoothly and to programme, proactively mitigating challenges to workflow sequencing caused by delayed access to work zones.

The exacting standards and attention to detail demanded by Renaker throughout the build necessitated not only our most skilled and experienced painters but high levels of organisation from our exceptional site management team. Surpassing the British Standard Quality Inspection process, Renaker’s Quality Inspection process involved using Snagmaster to report and document defects, extra’s and outstanding work as well as to undergo detailed quality inspections to every square metre of decorated surface across the project, using inspection lamps to check for imperfections.

We used a range of performance-based products across the project including Johnstone’s Covaplus for the walls and ceilings within the apartments and Johnstone’s Aqua WB Satin on the woodwork. We used Johnstone’s Acrylic Eggshell in the amenity areas and Zinsser Permawhite on the ceiling within the underground pool. We also applied a range of luxury Tektura and Arte wallcoverings within the gymnasium, residents lounge, lift lobby’s and further amenity areas.

Attention to detail was imperative on this scheme. In the light filled gymnasium for example where a half height, textured woodgrain-effect Tektura wallpaper was specified, expert application was critical as any imperfections would be obvious, particularly around the right angled columns.

Additionally, to help save time on site and achieve that perfect ‘factory-finish’, we used our Offsite precision spray painting facility to spray over 25,000 lm of skirting to specification, before being dried, checked and carefully wrapped ready for delivery to site.

This was an exciting and well-managed project to be a part of, for which we received glowing praise on the quality of our workmanship and service.
